This tutorial will shows you exacly how you can get quick and reliable color and luminance correction is Photoshop. This will allow subtle detail in blacks and whites to show thorugh.<\/p>\n<h2>Setting up the Eyedroppers (Only have to do this once)<\/h2>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with the black point.<\/p>\n<p>With the levels adjustment layer open, double-click the top eyedropper. (Must have a document open to use Adjustment Layers).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21544\" src=\"http:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper05.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"35\" height=\"91\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You will see a color picker. Because of the flare from the car headlights, this image is lacking contrast (stong blacks). It also has a warm color cast. Setting the Shadows<\/h3>\n<p>Create a levels adjustment layer<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21543\" src=\"http:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper04.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"286\" height=\"573\" srcset=\"https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper04.jpg 286w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper04-150x300.jpg 150w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper04-100x200.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 286px) 100vw, 286px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Choose the Black eyedropper<\/p>\n<p>Now we neeed to find the darkest point in the photo<\/p>\n<p>Hold down the alt\/Option key and drag the black triangle to the right. Setting the highlights<\/h3>\n<p>Let&#8217;s locate the brightest part of the photo.<\/p>\n<p>Hold down Alt\/Option key and drag the white triangle to the left. You will see clipping about the headlights of the car.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21551\" src=\"http:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper12.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"782\" height=\"722\" srcset=\"https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper12.jpg 782w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper12-600x554.jpg 600w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper12-300x277.jpg 300w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper12-768x709.jpg 768w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper12-100x92.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 782px) 100vw, 782px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, I ignore areas that are producing light (you should try it first) and look for other area that are the brightest but that may contain some pixel value (not blown out).<\/p>\n<p>In this case, I clicked on the reflection in the car windshield with the white eyedropper. This brightens up the photo nicely.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21552\" src=\"http:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"777\" height=\"723\" srcset=\"https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper13.jpg 777w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper13-600x558.jpg 600w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper13-300x279.jpg 300w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper13-768x715.jpg 768w, https:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper13-100x93.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 777px) 100vw, 777px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Setting the color balance with Photoshop eye droppers<\/h2>\n<p>Now its time to set the white balance and remove the color cast.<\/p>\n<p>Choose the gray dropper.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-21553\" src=\"http:\/\/photoshopcafe.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/eyedropper14.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"38\" height=\"76\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Look for an area in the photograph that should be a neutral gray or white.
