How to make Anime beads in Photoshop<\/span><\/h3>\n

Step 1<\/span><\/h3>\n

Create a new document<\/p>\n

Create some text. (I used Planet Kosmos at 50 points)<\/p>\n

Ctrl\/Cmd+Click on the texts’ layer thumbnail to load the selection<\/p>\n

Select>Modify>Expand<\/p>\n

Enter 5 pixels and click ok<\/p>\n

Step 2<\/span><\/h3>\n

The selection should now look like this<\/p>\n

Step 3<\/span><\/h3>\n

With the selection still active create a new layer and name it beads<\/p>\n

Step 4<\/span><\/h3>\n

Go to the Paths Palette<\/p>\n

Click the top right arrow and choose “Make Work Path” from the fly out menu<\/p>\n

Enter a setting of 0.5 (The minimum allowed)<\/p>\n

Click ok<\/p>\n

We have now made a path out of the selection<\/p>\n

Step 5<\/span><\/h3>\n

Prepare the brush…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Choose White<\/strong> as your foreground color<\/p>\n

Select the Brush tool from the Toolbox<\/p>\n

Open the brushes panel<\/p>\n

Turn off all the boxes on the left<\/p>\n

Choose a 10 Pixel hard brush<\/p>\n

Set the spacing to 105% (This will make a dotted line)<\/p>\n

Step 6<\/span><\/h3>\n

Click on the Stroke path button as shown<\/p>\n

The path will now be stroked with white dots.<\/p>\n

Click in the blank area of the paths palette (Below the work path) to turn off the path<\/p>\n

Step 7<\/span><\/h3>\n

Go back to the layers palette<\/p>\n

You should now have something like this<\/p>\n

Step 8<\/span><\/h3>\n

Click the little “f” at the bottom of the layers panel to add a layer style<\/p>\n

Choose bevel and emboss and use the settings shown<\/p>\n

Step 9<\/span><\/h3>\n

Choose inner shadow and use the shown settings<\/p>\n

Click Ok to apply the style.<\/p>\n

Step 10<\/span><\/h3>\n

At this point we have a problem. The text is a bit small for the beads (There is a gap showing)<\/p>\n

Increase the size of the text to compensate, the edge of the text should line up with the beads<\/p>\n

Step 11<\/span><\/h3>\n

Add a layer style to the text. Apply a default drop shadow and a Bevel as shown<\/p>\n

Step 12<\/span><\/h3>\n

In this variation, I repeated the step and expanded by 10 pixels to create a second ring of beads. I also enhanced it a bit with some sparkles.<\/p>\n
